Logistical Information

Media Representatives:

Each media outlet will be limited to two representatives onsite during the proceedings.

Media Parking:

Monday, Sept. 16th, a media parking area will be established on the Southside of the Pioneer Center between Center Street and Virginia St. Vehicles outside the designated area parked in red, yellow, and white zones around the courthouse may be ticketed or towed by the City of Reno.

Media Staging Area:

Friday, Sept. 13th from 2:00 – 4:00pm media is invited to get b-roll/footage of the courthouse, courtroom, and designated areas. The Courthouse Information Representative is Brooke Howard. Contact: CourtAdmin@washoecourts.us.

Monday, Sept. 16th, media setups will be allowed on the East sidewalk of the Virginia St. entrance of the Second Judicial District Court between 7am and 9am. Parties will enter the Courthouse through the Virginia St. entrance. Parties will not take questions or respond to inquiries in-person.

Cables:

All cables placed on sidewalks or street shall be covered in such a manner as to avoid interference with pedestrians or vehicular traffic and must conform to City of Reno and Washoe County ordinances.

Courthouse Security:

Media will enter the building through the main entrance on 75 Court St. All persons entering the courthouse must pass through electronic security devices and submit any and all equipment for search at the discretion of security officers and/or court deputies. Media members are asked to refrain from bringing excess bags or backpacks into the courthouse. Please bring only what is essential.

Seating in Courtroom During Court Proceeding:

The proceedings and case filings have been made confidential pursuant to court order. No media will be allowed in the courtroom. Notification will be posted to Attending Court - Washoecourts should there be changes to the confidentiality of the proceedings.

After 9am media may stage in the Law Library Conference Room or can remain outside of the courthouse on Virginia St. Media wishing to stage in the Law Library must submit a request to Brooke Howard Courthouse Information Representative 48-hours prior to the start of the court proceedings.

Photography (still or video) of any member of a jury panel is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

This is a non-jury proceeding, however, there will be jurors and members of the public moving throughout the building.

At no time will camera setups be allowed to impede the flow of pedestrian traffic inside or outside the building. Deputies will be instructed to escort media away from pedestrian traffic areas.

Absolutely no photography (still or video) will be allowed outside of any courtroom or any court floor inside the Second Judicial District Court. Any violation of this rule will result in a revocation of media privileges.
